North Dakota, USA

Angela Beaton is a third-generation American descended from Icelandic farmers who settled in North Dakota. Growing up in Grand Forks, she graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in public history and has worked in various museums, libraries, and archives in the Fargo-Moorhead area. She has master's degrees in both history and library and information science and currently works as a librarian at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Angela has visited Iceland twice and put together a heritage tour using the Icelandic Roots database for her family to visit their ancestral farmsteads and meet with Icelandic relatives along the way. She has been involved in the FM Icelandic Klub and the Nordic Culture Clubs organizations, has baked kleinur with her amma, and has attended many August the Deuce celebrations.

Angela has worked with the Icelandic Roots library by cataloging books in the collection and uploading records into the LibraryThing catalog app. As a book lover, Angela especially enjoys Icelandic ghost stories and other Nordic noir and is always on the hunt for book recommendations.
