Genealogist

Halldór Grétarsson

Image-empty-state.png

Selfoss, ÍSL

Halldór was born in Selfoss in 1960. His parents were always very interested in genealogy, especially his mother, but Halldór’s interest really took flight around the year 2000, when he began searching for his grandmother's sister, who had gone to Canada in 1901. Many of Halldór’s relatives had unsuccessfully looked for her throughout the years. Halldór not only managed to locate her, but in the process he also identified all his other ancestors who had emigrated to North America. Since then, Halldór has immersed himself in the task of finding and connecting with relatives in Canada and the United States, and he has contributed various materials to Icelandic Roots over the years, both related to his own family and to unrelated families.
