Texas, USA

Having been a member of Icelandic Roots since 2021, Inga's adept research skills are put to work as a member of our genealogy team.

Inga’s degrees in history and historic preservation have led her to realize the importance of learning about and understanding one's family history. The research skills she acquired were a huge asset when focussing on her family research. In 2024, Inga successfully defended her master’s thesis focused on the architectural career of her maternal great-great grandfather. Presently, she focuses most of her family research on the Icelandic heritage which stems from her grandfather, Ívar Guðmundsson (1912-1996).

Inga has travelled to Iceland numerous times, but most recently as a Snorri participant in 2024. She reunited with Icelandic cousins, discovered more about other Western Icelanders, and experienced more of Iceland's heritage and culture. All this will contribute to Inga’s keen skillset of helping others find their ancestral family and their Icelandic roots.
