Saskatchewan, CAN

Kathy has always known she was 100% Icelandic. It was not until she started researching her family tree that she realized how deep her roots really are. Six of her great grandparents and all her grandparents emigrated from Iceland between 1892 and 1904. They arrived in Winnipeg and all but two great grandparents carried on to the Icelandic settlement near Leslie, Saskatchewan.

Kathy was born, raised and continues to live in Saskatchewan. She was an insurance broker for 34 years. The first 14 years were at a busy city office and then she and her husband Darren ran their own successful rural agency for 20 years. Surprisingly still married after working together, they recently retired. They enjoy "glamping", fishing and travelling together. A trip to Iceland is definitely on the list. They have two sons, two daughter-in-laws and three granddaughters.

Kathy has a particular interest in the emigrants and telling their story. She is honoured and excited to be working with the Icelandic Roots team.
