Lorne Hallgrimson

Manitoba, CAN

Lorne grew up in the Rural Municipality of Argyle, on a farm between Glenboro and Baldur, Manitoba.

All eight of his great-grandparents emigrated from Iceland between 1873 and 1889, coming from farms in the west, north and east of Iceland. All married in Canada and settled in the Argyle RM, although some made stops at Gimli RM, Framnes and Winnipeg, Manitoba; at what is now Hekkla, Ontario; or at Gardar, North Dakota.

After a 2014 stopover in Iceland, Lorne became interested in learning more about his family history. In 2015, he began researching online and building upon the family trees created by his mom and work done by other family members. He joined Icelandic Roots as a member in 2016 and as a volunteer in 2019.

Lorne lives in Winnipeg with his wife Nadine and daughter Tess, an alumnus of the Snorri Program.
