20. ágúst – 4. september highlights are the 5 links below.

More details of the trip:

After arriving at the Keflavík airport, I collected my bags, picked up the rental car at the airport, and drove to Hafnarfjörður for breakfast with great friends, Almar, Anna Björk, and David. After a full day of visiting, touring, and meeting people, I settled in at the Sunna Guesthouse.

I met with my genealogy partner, Hálfdan, on two different days and we had great fun ”doing genealogy” together and finding some elusive ancestors.

25. ágúst was the wonderful Icelandic National League of Iceland (Þjóðræknisfélag Íslendinga) Convention in Reykjavík. I gave a presentation called ”Taking Chances.” We had a nice dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gunnar Bragi, Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð, and President of the ÞFÍ Halldór.

Lots of meetings, lots of fun people, lots of great food along the way.

27. águst – 1. september
Volunteered my time at the Hofsós Emigration Center. A storm was coming and after the effects of the year before, the entire population left for the mountains to get the sheep. I stayed behind and assisted the visitors to the Emigration Center. My cousins, Kristján Helgi and Gígja came for a visit to Hofsós and it is always great to see them. I stayed at Almar and Anna Björk´s house, Ás. I love it in Hofsós!

2. september – back to Reykajvík for more visiting, dinner with cousins, and meetings – including a visit with the Past President of Iceland, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir – what a highlight!

4. september – fly away from my beloved Iceland. Tired and Happy!
